Setup and playing
What do I need to play?
An iPhone and a TV you can show your phone's screen on, for example with AirPlay on a smart TV or an Apple TV. You also need a bit of floor space: about 2 × 2 metres in front of the TV works well. No TV? You can also play on your phone.
Where should I put my phone?
Stand it upright below or in front of the TV, facing you, about 2–3 metres away, so the camera can see you from head to feet. The setup screen shows you when it can see your whole body.
Is the camera recording me?
No. While you play, Cardi reads your movement on the phone in real time and throws each frame away. Nothing from gameplay is saved or uploaded. The only photos Cardi keeps are ones you add yourself: meal photos, stored with your meal log until you delete the meal or your account, and your profile photo, if you add one, until you change or remove it or delete your account. If another player reports you, a copy of your profile photo is kept with the report until 180 days after it's resolved. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
The game doesn't notice my jumps or ducks.
Turn on more light, avoid standing with a bright window behind you, step back until your feet are in view, and wear clothes that stand out from the background.
My TV won't connect.
Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network and that AirPlay (or screen mirroring) is turned on in the TV's settings. Restarting the TV and the app fixes most connection problems.
Subscriptions and billing
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Nothing is charged today. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly price shown in the app is charged to your Apple Account and the subscription renews every year until you cancel. You can see the trial's end date in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Cardi.
How do I cancel?
On your iPhone open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Cardi → Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I paid but Cardi still shows the paywall.
Tap Restore on the subscription screen, or Profile → Account → Restore purchases, and make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you paid with. Still stuck? Email us.
Account and data
How do I connect or disconnect Apple Health?
In Cardi, go to Profile → Apple Health. Cardi reads your active energy and steps and saves your runs as workouts; it doesn't read heart rate. To change what Cardi can read or write, open the Health app → your profile → Apps → Cardi. Workouts Cardi already saved stay in Apple Health until you delete them there.
Who can see my stats?
Other players only see your @handle, your profile photo if you add one (otherwise a default avatar), your country flag, your league tier and your kilometres this week. Your name, weight, body data, calories, meals and Apple Health data are never shown to other players.
Someone is cheating or has an offensive handle or photo.
You can report or block another player in the app. You can also email us at admin@getcardi.app with their @handle and we'll look into it.
How do I delete my account?
See Delete your account. In short: in the app go to Profile → Account → Delete account (or tap Account on the subscription screen). This permanently removes your profile, progress, friends, meal log, meal photos and profile photo, and disconnects Sign in with Apple. No app anymore? Email admin@getcardi.app and we'll help within 30 days. Remember to cancel your subscription separately.
Safety
Cardi is exercise. Check with a doctor first if you have a health condition, clear the space around you, and stop if anything hurts. The full notice is in our Terms of Service.
